Ninety percent of the tax revenues projected in Iran’s national budget bill have been collected.
During the first half of the current fiscal year, Iran’s revenues from taxes stood at 870 trillion rials ($27.7 billion), Nader Jannati, deputy head of Iran’s tax organization, told Mehr Sept. 22.
He added that currently the share of taxes in Iran’s GDP stands at 7 percent, while the figure for global average is 20 percent.
Jannati added that the figure is projected to reach 10 percent by 2021.
While tax evasion is considered as a main problem in the country, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Tayyebnia suggests that 43 percent of Iranian citizens, entities, institutions or organizations, who produce goods and services, are excluded from paying taxes.
