The project on a crude oil transportation project from Goureh oil terminal in the Bushehr province (southern Iran) to the Jask station on the shores of the Gulf of Oman is Iran's most strategic project, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said, Trend reports citing IRINN.
He made the remark at the event dedicated to the project. He attended the event via videoconference.
According to the minister, the 42-inch (more than 1 meter in diameter) pipeline starts at Goureh in the Bushehr Province and extends to Jask in the Hormozgan Province.
Zanganeh said that Jask station will be the largest oil terminal in Iran after Kharg.
He added that so far, $300 million in funds have been spent on this project.
"More than $800-850 million in funds are needed to complete the laying of this pipeline," he said.
The minister express hope that the pipeline would be operational by the end of current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020).
“It is planned to use 50 pumps in this pipeline. Each pump costs $1 million and is manufactured by Iranian companies,” he noted.
The construction of the 1,000-kilometer Goureh-Jask oil pipeline project worth more than $1.8 billion has been outsourced to local manufacturers and contractors. It is planned to transport 1 million barrels of crude oil per day via the pipeline.
According to the program, the pipeline will be commissioned next year (begins March 21, 2021).
It is also planned to build a 30 million-barrel oil storage facility on 460 hectares at the Iranian Jask oil terminal. As part of this program, a storage facility for 10 million barrels of oil is being built.
