BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 12. Azerbaijan's current account surplus in the balance of payments amounted to $4.7 billion in 2024, which is 6.3 percent of GDP, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) told Trend.
The CBA reminded that in 2023, the current account had a surplus of 11.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).
"According to the State Customs Committee, in January 2025, a positive balance of $1 billion was recorded in the foreign trade balance, which is 40.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
Based on the most recent evaluations, the projections for the current account at the conclusion of 2025 are anticipated to exhibit an enhancement relative to 2024 and prior forecasts," the CBA noted.
