BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 12. Azerbaijan produced 5,200 tons of honey, 132.1 tons of wax, 8.5 tons of propolis, 16.8 tons of bee bread, and 239.3 kg of royal jelly from 579,000 bee colonies in 30,600 farms in 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates
that the mean expenditure for a kilogram of honey was 28.6 manat
($16.8), while the wax was priced at 16.5 manat ($9.7). Propolis
commanded a value of 109.7 manat ($64.5), and bee bread was
assessed at 140.9 manat ($82.88). Additionally, the cost for one
gram of royal jelly was set at seven manat ($4).
In juxtaposition to the metrics of 2023, the preceding year
witnessed a contraction of 3.1 percent in the aggregate count of
apian colonies. Conversely, the yield of apicultural products
exhibited a notable escalation: honey surged by 13.5 percent, bee
bread experienced an extraordinary amplification of 88.8 percent,
wax ascended by 23.5 percent, propolis expanded by 43 percent, and
royal jelly augmented by 14.9 percent. Furthermore, the mean
density of bee colonies per apiculture enterprise contracted by 2.4
percent.
The decline in bee colonies and the production of some beekeeping products is primarily attributable to apian illnesses.
