BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Azerbaijan exported 2,000 tons of oil bitumen in the first two months of 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that
the fiscal yield derived from this volume of exportation culminated
in $519,000.
In the corresponding timeframe of the previous fiscal year,
Azerbaijan exhibited a complete absence of oil bitumen exports.
To note, Azerbaijan exported 1,191 tons of oil bitumen worth $220,00 abroad from January through November 2024. Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover for the reporting period reached $8.9 billion, marking an increase of $1.7 billion, or 23.2 percent, compared to the same period last year. In January-February of the previous year, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover totaled $7.2 billion.
From this overall turnover, $4.8 billion was designated for exports, whereas $4.1 billion was attributed to imports. Exports experienced a marginal contraction of $13 million (0.3 percent) relative to the annual baseline, whereas imports exhibited a substantial escalation of $1.7 billion (69.2 percent).
A positive foreign trade balance of $628 million was recorded; nonetheless, this reflects a decline of $1.7 billion, representing a decrease of 3.7 times relative to the same period in the prior year.
