BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. Azerbaijan's chemical industry, including the production of pharmaceutical products and rubber and plastic goods, hit the ground running, with output soaring to a total value of 363.9 million manat ($214 million) from January through February 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates that, in juxtaposition to the corresponding timeframe from the previous year, the output of pharmaceutical products experienced an escalation of 21.4 percent, whereas the chemical sector's production exhibited an uptick of 11.4 percent. Nonetheless, the output metrics for rubber and plastic commodities registered a marginal contraction of 3.6 percent.
Within the chemical domain, the synthesis of polyethylene experienced an uptick exceeding 22.5 percent, while ethylene synthesis escalated by approximately 12.9 percent and propylene exhibited an advancement of 5.6 percent. Conversely, the output metrics for rigid polymer conduits, tubular structures, connectors, and flexible hoses experienced a contraction of 11.8 percent, whereas the manufacturing of polyethylene containment solutions, specifically bags and sacks, saw a significant decline of 37.6 percent.
