BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 21. Currency exchange operations in Azerbaijan rom January trough February 2025 involving the US dollar, euro, British pound, and Russian ruble has been revealed.

Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank indicates that banks purchased over $116.1 million and sold more than $294.2 million. Compared to the same period in 2024, the purchase of dollars decreased by 3.4 million, or about 2.8 percent, while sales of dollars increased by 82.7 million, or 39.1 percent.

Regarding the euro, banks purchased around 9.8 million euros and sold 17.1 million euros. The purchase of euros saw a growth of about 12 percent, or 1 million euros, and sales surged by 53.5 percent, or 6 million euros, compared to the same period last year.

In terms of the British pound, the banks bought around 622,000 pounds and sold about 2.7 million pounds. Compared to the previous year, the purchase of pounds increased by 1.2 percent, or 7,000 pounds, while the sales volume grew by a significant 66.2 percent or 1.1 million pounds.

Moreover, in the same two-month period, the purchase of Russian rubles amounted to 213.7 million, while 176.4 million rubles were sold by banks. The purchase of rubles saw a significant decrease of 1.1 billion rubles, or 84.1 percent, compared to last year. On the other hand, the sale of rubles increased by 4.5 million rubles, or 2.6 percent, from the same period in 2024.
