BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Belarus has sharply increased its food salt exports to Azerbaijan, with a total of 67.8 tons of iodized food-grade salt imported from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that the country spent $20,700 on these imports during the period.
This signifies a substantial escalation relative to the
corresponding timeframe in 2024, with food salt imports from
Belarus surging by 67.3 tons, equating to a 135.6-fold increase in
volume, and by $20,400, representing a 69-fold enhancement in
value.
In the interim, Azerbaijan executed an importation of a mere 0.5
tons of culinary sodium chloride from Belarus, appraised at a
valuation of $300 during the initial bi-monthly period of 2024.
In the specified timeframe, Azerbaijan executed the procurement of
2,200 metric tons of culinary sodium chloride, aggregating a fiscal
outlay of $323,000, sourced from a diverse array of international
suppliers.
