BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. Work is ongoing to address the issue of organic chlorides detected in some tanks at the Ceyhan terminal, BP Azerbaijan told Trend.
The company noted that it continues taking samples to ensure the quality of crude at the terminal.
"BTC Co continues loading crude at Ceyhan with a programme of sampling to assure quality," the producer added.
Earlier, bp also reported that they are closely working with SOCAR to manage the crude stored in the tanks that have been assessed to be off specification.
Prior to this, Earlier, some media outlets reported that oil transported through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline had been contaminated with fuel containing organic chlorides, which are used to enhance crude production. According to these reports, BP Plc and the Italian company Eni raised the concerns.
In response to Trend’s inquiry, BP Azerbaijan stated that the assessment of crude oil quality across all facilities along the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline confirmed that the oil meets specifications at every facility up to the Ceyhan terminal.
