BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 11. Iran has invested 75 trillion rials (about $129 million) in newly commissioned solar power plants, the country’s Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi said at an inauguration event, Trend reports.
According to Aliabadi, the new plants, with a combined capacity of 250 megawatts (MW), have raised Iran’s renewable energy electricity generation potential to 2,550 MW, enough to supply electricity to roughly 145,000 households per month.
He added that construction has also begun on additional solar power plants with a total capacity of 400 MW across 14 provinces. By the end of the year (March 20, 2026), the country’s renewable energy generation capacity is expected to reach 7,000 MW, with plans to expand further to 13,100 MW by 2029.
The event was attended by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and other government officials, highlighting the country’s focus on expanding clean energy infrastructure.
