BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 22. The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a 50 million euro loan agreement with finance&invest.brussels, the regional promotional institution, to help local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Mid-Caps access financing, Trend reports via the bank.

The deal will enable finance&invest.brussels to provide up to 140 million euros in new loans under favourable conditions, reducing collateral requirements and improving lending terms to support business growth and job creation.

“The Brussels Capital Region has a very diverse, innovative and dynamic ecosystem of small and medium-sized businesses,” said EIB Vice-President Robert de Groot. “By joining forces with finance&invest.brussels, we are ensuring that businesses in the Brussels Region can access the financing they need to thrive and create new opportunities.”

Investments will target companies across various sectors, including financial and legal technology, creative industries, urban farming, and sustainable food. All lending decisions will be made by finance&invest.brussels.

Pierre Hermant, CEO of finance&invest.brussels, said the partnership “confirms our commitment to providing concrete and sustainable support to SMEs in the Capital Region,” noting the importance of facilitating access to financing amid a changing economic landscape.

Finance&invest.brussels has previously partnered with the European Investment Fund, part of the EIB Group, providing 54 million euros in 2021 and 78 million euros in 2023 to support local SMEs and Mid-Caps.
