Turkmenistan prepares to harvest wheat crops

The agricultural irrigation operations are under completion at the 860,000 hectare wheat wedge in Turkmenistan, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said on Saturday.

"This year's crop is rich," the article said. "Harvesting will begin in the coming days. It is necessary to harvest at a high organizational level, to collect crops in the shortest possible time and without losses."

According to the state order, grain growers must collect 1.6 million tons of grain by 1,882 combine harvesters from such companies as John Deere, Case, Claas.

According to the newspaper, the largest grain crops covering 225,000 hectares are in the Akhal region of the country, 200,000 hectare wheat crops in Mary province, 180 hectares in Dashoguz, 175,000 hectares in Lebap and 80,000 hectares in the Balkan.

According to the President's decree, the state commission on grain harvest was established in Turkmenistan. More than 1.2 million tons of wheat were harvested in 2012. More than 1.3 million tons were collected in 2011 despite a drought year.

Turkmengallaonumleri Association was allowed to sell the surplus of harvest volume in excess of domestic requirements in the foreign markets.
