By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:
Kazakhstan`s geological industry is to create conditions not only for multinational companies, but also for smaller ones, the Committee of Geology of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Kazakhstan told Trend responding an official question from the agency.
'The emphasis will be directed to the creation of favourable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in geology. There are many small companies along with large national or multinational vertically integrated ones in the countries with a developed system of geological services which are almost completely end services on exploration work', the written response from the Committee of Geology said to Trend.
Today the market of exploration services in Kazakhstan is narrow, that is a relatively small number of companies are present, according to the agency. They are developing poorly, expanding from small to large.
"Depending on the strategy of the company, they can develop encompassing production, processing, etc., or remain in the niche of exploration services. Under appropriate conditions, the number of companies in the geological industry should grow which in the competitive process and go to the world market both near and far such as Russia, Kyrgyzstan and the Caucasus. At this time, foreign mining and service companies are coming to Kazakhstan with their services, " the Committee of Geology noted.
Furthermore, it is planned to set the whole issue to rights in this field in accordance with the best of standards. Firstly, the field's legislation should be improved. Activity in this regard should be directed to the maximum simplification and transparency, that is conditions and restrictions should be as small as possible and requirements should be clear and specific in accordance with best international practice.
Moreover, the creation of a geological research centre at Nazarbayev University will provide the formation of a leading school in the field of Mining (Colorado School of Mines) and the training of skilled staff at an international level.
