BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) will provide Tajikistan with a $200 million loan to support the country’s state budget and strengthen public finances.
This was reflected in a statement by the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan.
According to the ministry, the loan agreement was signed in Dushanbe on August 13 by Tajikistan’s Finance Minister Faiziddin Kahhorzoda and EFSD CEO Iaroslav Mandron.
The financing will be provided in three tranches, with $100 million to be disbursed in the first stage and $50 million each in the second and third stages.
The funds are expected to support the stability of Tajikistan’s public finances and help the government meet its social obligations.
“The financing will be aimed at maintaining the sustainability of public finances and fulfilling social commitments,” the Finance Ministry said.
The agreement comes as Tajikistan continues efforts to strengthen fiscal stability and ensure sufficient resources for key government expenditures. Budget support from international financial institutions can provide additional fiscal space while helping the government maintain the implementation of social programs.
The three-stage structure of the financing will allow the funds to be provided progressively as the agreed conditions and requirements are met, while supporting the government’s budget needs over the implementation period.
The agreement further strengthens financial cooperation between Tajikistan and the EFSD and provides the country with additional external financing to support fiscal stability.
The EFSD is a multilateral financial institution established in 2009 to support economic and financial stability in participating countries.
