Uzbekistan has reduced limit three-fold for duty-free import of goods through international postal and courier shipments, Uzbek media reported.
The corresponding changes are provided by the presidential decree “On measures to ensure control of goods entering Uzbekistan in the address of individuals in international postal and courier shipments”.
Uzbek citizens will now be able to import goods for personal use that are not subject to customs duties through international courier shipments in the amount of only $1,000 during one calendar quarter (three months).
Earlier, citizens of Uzbekistan could receive goods in international courier shipments for a $1,000 in one calendar month.
The new changes may significantly reduce volume of online purchases from abroad, which have been becoming quite popular among Uzbek citizens.
It is possible to buy clothes, household appliances or electronic devices in Amazon or AliExpress cheaper than in conventional stores in Uzbekistan.
