Georgia exported about 47.2 million bottles (0.75 liters each) of wine to 47 countries in January-July of 2019, which is a 4 percent increase compared to the same period of 2018, Trend reports with reference to the Georgian National Wine Agency.
In the reporting period Georgia generated over $114.2 million from the sale of wine abroad – a 6 percent increase year-on-year.
According to the agency, in the seven months of 2019, 243 Georgian companies participated in the wine export process.
The top 10 countries that imported the of Georgian wine in January-July 2019 were: Russia – 29,132,711 bottles, Ukraine – 4,893,304 bottles, China – 4,249,687 bottles, Poland – 2,250,994 bottles, Kazakhstan – 1,902,618 bottles, Belarus -1,008,888 bottles, Latvia – 841,236 bottles, United States – 388,038 bottles, Lithuania – 372,918 bottles, Estonia – 357,866 bottles.
Exports to Georgia’s strategic wine markets increased: United States – 60 percent increase (388,038 bottles), United Kingdom – 39 percent increase (69,662 bottles), China – 21 percent increase (4,249,687 bottles) and Poland – 19 percent increase (2,250,994 bottles).
Export also grew to France - 143 percent (63,948 bottles), Lithuania - 41 percent (372,918 bottles), Mongolia – 35 percent (172,392 bottles), Belarus - 19 percent (1,008,888 bottles), Israel – 51 percent (165,671 bottles).
Meanwhile, Georgia exported 14.5 million bottles of Georgian brandy (an increase of 46 percent) and 306,200 bottles of Chacha (an increase of 40 percent) abroad.
