The State Customs Committee (SCC) of Uzbekistan analyzed the volumes of the main consumer goods imported from abroad and suggested domestic businesses to produce them in Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
According to statistics provided by the State Customs Committee for Monitoring Foreign Trade and Customs Statistics, imports of food and non-food consumer goods in the first seven months of this year increased compared to the same period last year.
Studies have shown that most of these products can be produced by local entrepreneurs; there are all the necessary conditions and opportunities for this in the country, according to the committee.
“We hope that the information we provide will help plan and launch the production of consumer goods that are of great importance for the population of our country, and will also increase the economic potential of our country and create additional jobs by further expanding business,” the State Customs Committee said.
Data on imports for January-July 2018 and 2019 indicate an increase in imports for a number of basic consumer goods. For example, imports of sunflower oil grew by 48 percent - from $69.2 million to $103 million, chocolate - by 50 percent (from $15.4 million to $23.1 million), margarine - by 20 percent (from $10 million to $12 million), cheese - by 83.3 percent (from $2.4 million to $4.4 million), butter - by 20 percent (from $3 million to $3.6 million), pasta - by 70 percent ( from $3.7 million to $6.3 million) and others.
Among other products, the import of sweets increased significantly - by 105 percent (from $1.7 million to $3.5 million), cereal - by 95.8 percent (from $9.6 million to $18.8 million), yogurt - by 145 percent (from $1.1 million to $2.7 million), cookies - by 81.2 percent (from $1.6 million to $2.9 million).
In addition, the volumes of import of mineral water increased by 6.6 times (from $269,000 to $ 1.8 million) and carbonated water - by 13.5 times (from $ 309,100 to $ 4.2 million).
Import growth was also observed for such products as chewing gum (34.7 percent), canned fish (131.6 percent), broths (40 percent), ice cream (239 percent), ready-made sauces (10 percent), shale (81, 7 percent), sneakers (125 percent) and sportswear (16 percent), T-shirts and T-shirts (141 percent).
Importers of Uzbekistan began to buy less from abroad boots (-106 percent), sandals (-26 percent) and moccasins (-23 percent).
