Specialists of Iran's Aghajari Oil & Gas Production Company (AOGPC) have mastered technology of line-break control valves (LBV) to be used in case of emergency, said Mohsen Dehbanpour, director of maintenance and repair department of AOGPC, Trend reports citing National Iranian South Oil Company’s official website.
According to Dehbanpour, it is a self-contained pipeline monitoring system which is used to prevent gas releasing upon rupture or large leakage in the oil and gas pipelines caused by sudden drop in pressure or a natural disaster.
The director added that the equipment was decommissioned after problems with the LBV on the 10-inch pipeline due to gas injection into the Ramshir oil field.
The official said the LBV technology is on the list of US sanctions against Iran and can't be imported, while, on the other hand, the system is very expensive.
"Currently, the equipment is already in use and can be used at other Iranian oil and gas facilities," he said.
The official did not disclose the cost of the system production.
About 12 million cubic feet (339,000 cubic meters) of gas extracted daily from the Aghar and Dalan fields is transported via a gas pipeline to the Ramshir oil field.
AOGPC produces 615,000 barrels of light and heavy oil a day from eight oil fields. Subordinate to the National Iranian South Oil Company, AOGPC supplies fuel to domestic refineries and exports the remaining amount. The company also produces 11,000 tons of naphtha per day, which is sent to Bouali Sina Petrochemical Company, Esfahan Oil Refining Company, and Abadan Oil Refining Company as fuel and for export.
The US imposed new sanctions on Iran in November 2018. Over the past period, the sanctions affected Iranian oil exports, more than 700 banks, companies and individuals.
