The volume of oil transported via the Baku-Supsa pipeline (WREP) from January through September 2020 exceeded 3 million tons, increasing by 13 percent compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
In the third quarter of 2020, 183 million barrels of oil and condensate were exported from the Sangachal oil terminal.
According to the committee, 160 million barrels of the total volume of oil exported from the terminal were pumped through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline and 23 million barrels through the western Baku-Supsa pipeline.
The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline is a pipeline for the transportation of Caspian oil from the Sangachal terminal near Baku in the Caspian Sea to the Georgian port of Supsa, located on the Black Sea coast.
The Baku-Supsa oil pipeline was put into operation on April 17, 1999. The pipeline is 837 km long and 530 mm in diameter. The pipeline with a throughput capacity of 7.5 million tons of oil per year was built under a contract for the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli fields.
