The discussions on the development of the second phase of the Iran-Iraq joint Yadavaran oil field in the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran), are underway, Executive Director of Iran’s Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) Touraj Dehghani said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
Dehghani said that these discussions will end soon and the work on the development of the second phase of this field will begin.
The director added that the first phase of the Yadavaran oil field was developed in cooperation with the Chinese Sinopec Group. An average of 110,000-125,000 barrels of crude oil is extracted from this phase daily.
“After the development of the second phase of the field, it will be possible to extracts 180,000 barrels daily for the first 3 years and 230,000 barrels per day for the next 4 years,” he noted.
As reported, the Yadavaran oil field, which is located 60 km southwest of the Ahvaz city in the Khuzestan Province on the Iran-Iraq border, contains 6.3 billion barrels of oil.
It is estimated that about 6.2 billion barrels of this volume can be extracted. The extraordinary extraction from this field exceeded 50,000 barrels per day. More than 110,000 barrels of oil are currently extracted daily from the first phase of the field through 49 wells.
