BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 27. Iran’s Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Company (AOGPC) saved 1.1 trillion rials (about $26.2 million) by repairing a leaking well in the Ramshir oil field without a drilling rig, said Javad Taghizadeh, the company’s executive director, Trend reports.
According to him, the well, which is well No. 5 in the Ramshir oil field, produces 5,000 barrels of crude oil per day. It had an oil leak that created several dangers for the production. AOGPC and National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) engineers replaced the pipes and repaired some equipment inside the well without using a drilling rig.
Taghizadeh said that if they used a drilling rig, the production would stop for a long time. The successful repair of well No. 5 prevented a reduction of 900,000 barrels of production from the Ramshir oil field.
Iran’s Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Company (AOGPC) is a subsidiary of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).
The AOGPC has eight oil fields: Aghajari, Karanj, Paranj, Parsi, Ramshir, Rag Sefid, Pazanan and Marun. The company extracts about 615,000 barrels of light and heavy crude oil daily from these fields and produces more than 27.8 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Iran's Ramshir oil field is located 145 km south-east of Ahvaz city in Khuzestan Province. About 40,000 barrels of crude oil are reportedly produced daily from this field. The development of Ramshir oil field has been entrusted to the Oil Industry Construction and Engineering Company (OIEC). If the field is fully developed, 55,000 barrels of crude oil and 70 million cubic feet (about 2 million cubic meters) of gas could be produced daily.
