BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 27. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has projected that the current account surplus in Azerbaijan will be 8.5 percent of GDP in 2024, Trend reports via the bank.
According to the EBRD’s latest data, Azerbaijan's current account balance remains positive, continuing its strong performance compared to other regional economies.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has a slightly more conservative outlook, expecting a current account surplus of 6.1 percent of GDP for 2024, with a slight decline to 5.9 percent the following year.
Notably, Azerbaijan's current account surplus amounted to $5.2 billion in January–September 2024.
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan also forecasts a positive trend, estimating that the surplus in the current account will reach approximately 5.3 billion by the end of 2024 and continue to grow to $5.5 billion in 2025.
