BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, June 27. The production value in Kyrgyzstan's extraction sector amounted to 22.956 billion soms ($264.794 million) from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the physical volume index for January–May 2024 was 92.5 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
In May 2024, production reached 4.485 billion soms ($51.733 million), with the physical volume index compared to May of the previous year at 82.4 percent.
During this period, the production volumes of coal, including both black and brown coal (lignite), decreased by 10.4 percent compared to January–May 2023, and metallic ores decreased by 9.9 percent.
Conversely, the production volumes of other minerals increased by 19.9 percent, while the combined extraction of crude oil and natural gas saw a modest increase of 0.3 percent.
Industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 195 billion soms ($2.242 billion) from January through May 2024, which is a 2.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
