BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 4. The Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan expects that the external debt will reach $4.737 billion in 2024, Trend reports.

The projections are as follows: $4.69 billion in 2025, $4.65 billion in 2026, $4.53 billion in 2027, $4.34 billion in 2028, and $4.059 billion in 2029.

The amount of external government debt in Kyrgyzstan's soms terms is influenced by the exchange rate of the US dollar. According to macroeconomic forecasts, the growth trend of the exchange rate is expected to continue in the coming years, which will also affect the external debt amount when expressed in soms.

As of December 31, 2023, the data indicates that the national debt of Kyrgyzstan stood at $6.280 billion, with the external debt accounting for $4.652 billion and the domestic debt totaling $1.627 billion.
