BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 5. In the first half of 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 586,5 tons of oil products from Russia, marking a decrease of 2.2 percent compared to the same period last year, which saw imports of 600,000 tons, Trend reports citing the analytical company Argus.

According to Argus, the decline was primarily in gasoline imports. This reduction is attributed to Kyrgyz companies accumulating large gasoline reserves and relatively weak domestic demand.

Additionally, maintenance work at Russian refineries limited the volume of available supply.

As a result, gasoline imports from Russia fell by 21 percent, from 331,9 tons in the first half of 2023 to 261,7 tons in January-June 2024.

Conversely, diesel fuel imports increased by 28 percent, reaching 200,9 tons compared to 156,2 tons in the same period last year.

The agency noted that relatively inexpensive diesel fuel was actively offered from smaller Russian refineries, with some of the diesel arriving in Kyrgyzstan via a combined route using the Transnefteproduct pipeline system.
