Iran enhances loans to country's industrial and mining sectors

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 15. The loans extended by Iranian banks in the industrial and mining sectors increased by 18.8 percent during 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, Iranian banks issued loans worth 3.64 quadrillion rials (about $9.28 billion) in the industrial and mining sectors during the three months.

However, during the same period last year, Iranian banks extended loans worth 3.06 quadrillion rials (about $7.81 billion) in the industrial and mining sectors.

Meanwhile, about 3.18 trillion rials (about $8.1 billion) worth of loans were extended as working capital in these sectors during the 3-month period.

The statistics indicate that during the mentioned period, loans worth about 306 trillion rials (about $780 million) were issued for the establishment of enterprises in the industrial and mining sectors.

Furthermore, the information notes that last year, loans worth 134 trillion rials (about $343 million) were granted for the development of the industrial and mining sectors.

The statistics point out that loans worth 11.4 trillion rials (about $29.2 million) for consumer loans and 5.72 trillion rials (about $14.6 million) for self-employment were issued in Iran's industrial and mining sectors during the mentioned period.

Moreover, the statistics added that in these sectors, loans worth 1.37 trillion rials (about $3.51 million) and 1.01 trillion rials (about $2.59 million) were issued for home renovation and purchase.

To note, during the 3 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 2024), Iranian banks extended credit worth 9.55 quadrillion rials (about $24.4 billion). The loan extended by Iranian banks increased by 21.7 percent during the three months compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through June 21, 2023).
