Mines in Iran's Ardabil province to resume operations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. Three mines in Ardabil province, located in northwestern Iran, will be restored to operation by the end of this year (March 20, 2025), said Masoud Irani, chairman of the Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of Ardabil Province, Trend reports.

According to him, 400 billion rials (about $692,000) will be invested in restoring the activities of three mines in Ardabil province.

Irani added that 12 people will be employed with the resumption of activities of the three mines.

“During nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through December 2024), seven mines in Ardabil province were granted licenses to operate. A total of 32 people were employed in these mines. Also, licenses were issued for establishing five mines,” he noted.

The official noted that more than 200 mines in Iran's Ardabil province have been granted licenses to operate. These mines mainly produce minerals related to sand and other construction materials.

To note, about 12,000 mines operate in Iran. It is announced that the mine reserves in Iran are more than 50 billion tons. The average production from mines in Iran is more than 400 million tons per year.
