Iran takes bold steps to capture flare gas from oil fields, paving way for cleaner energy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 7.​ Iran is making significant progress in flare gas collection at its oil fields through 27 ongoing projects across ten oil fields, Javanshir Sadeghi, Executive Director of the Iranian Persian Gulf Bidboland Gas Refining Company, told local media, Trend reports.

According to him, these projects aim to collect daily flare gas volumes of up to 670 million cubic feet (approximately 18.9 million cubic meters).

Sadeghi explained that the main focus of the company is the volume of flare gas burned at the flares, with plans to extinguish 22 of these flares as part of the projects.

"The total investment for these initiatives is expected to reach approximately $1.4 billion, with $870 million already spent," he said.

The Persian Gulf Bidboland Gas Refining Company can produce 10.3 million tons of methane, 1.5 million tons of propane, 490,000 tons of butane, 922,000 tons of sour gas, and 400,000 tons of condensate per year.
