BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 14. Iran is set to launch solar power stations with a total capacity of 400 megawatts by the summer of this year, said Majid Farahzad, the executive director of Iran's Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province Electric Distribution Company, Trend reports.
Speaking to local media, Farahzad noted that the new stations will contribute to reducing the country’s electricity shortage.
The official explained that in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, seven solar power stations with a combined capacity of 36 megawatts will be inaugurated. These stations will account for about 9 percent of the total new solar power capacity to be brought online.
Moreover, Farahzad noted that efforts are underway to establish solar power stations with a combined capacity of 600 megawatts in the province. Investors will be encouraged to participate in these projects.
Currently, 7.5 megawatts of solar power plants are operating in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. It is expected that in the current year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026), licenses for the construction of solar power plants with a total capacity of 610 megawatts will be issued.
