In the first six months (March 21-Sept.22, 2019) of the current Iranian year, Iran's exports of goods via borders of its East Azerbaijan province increased by 100 percent in monetary terms, compared to the same period last Iranian year, an official with East Azerbaijan Customs Organization Leyli Orangi said, Trend reports via ISNA.
During the reported period, Iran exported 1.35 million tons of goods for $1.51 billion via the customs of East Azerbaijan province, Orangi said.
Orangi added that the exports increased by 24 percent, compared to the same period of last Iranian year.
During the reported period, some of the main exports were iron, steel, cast iron, rubber, fuels, copper and copper products, fruits, equipment, mechanical appliances and their spare parts, glass and grains, the official said.
The main export destinations included Turkey, Iraq, Georgia, Azerbaijan, China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Italy and Bulgaria, Orangi added.
In the first six months of the current Iranian year, Iran imported over 265,000 tons of goods for $606 million via the customs of East Azerbaijan province, Orangi said.
Compared to the same period of the last Iranian year, the imports Iran's imports via East Azerbaijan increased by 74 in terms of weight, and by 44 percent in monetary terms, the customs official added.
Main imported goods include tobacco, equipment, mechanical tools, meat, paper and cardboard, rubber products and cocoa, Orangi added.
The mentioned imports were mainly supplied from Turkey, the UAE, Germany, China, Georgia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Russia and Austria, according to Orangi.
The revenues of the East Azerbaijan's customs in the reported period amounted to 3.08 trillion rial (roughly $73 million), which is 19 percent more compared to the same period last year, the customs official added.
