BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Iran’s South Khorasan Province in the north-east of the country saw transit of products to Afghanistan through the Mahirud customs rise by 236 percent in weight during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2023), compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023), director general of the Customs Administration of Iran's South Khorasan Province Mohammad Kouhgerd told reporters, Trend reports.

The customs official also said that around 527,000 products worth $910 million were transited to Afghanistan through the Mahirud customs of the province during the first eight months.

Kuhgerd added that the exports mainly consisted of sugar, flour, cooking oil, fertilizers, and others through the Mahirud customs in the eight months.

The customs official also said that the cargo came from Türkiye, the UAE, Indonesia, and passed through the Mahirud customs of the province.

To note, Iran’s South Khorasan province, which shares a 331-kilometer border with Afghanistan, operates four border markets across several counties.
