BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 7. The city of Abdanan in Iran’s western Ilam Province has not been seized by protesters, Trend reports via Iranian media.

Reports indicate that yesterday, around 17:00 (GMT+4), approximately 300 people gathered near Valiasr Square in Abdanan and moved toward Basij Square, joined along the way by additional participants. The protesters voiced discontent over the economic situation and rising prices, with some chanting various slogans.

By 19:00 (GMT+4), most protesters had left, but riots erupted, causing significant damage to public property. Government offices and banks were attacked, and documents from several banks were set on fire.

Authorities intervened when the situation escalated, and law enforcement restored order on the streets of Abdanan in under 15 minutes.
