BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 12. Azerbaijan can increase the volume of IT exports to one billion dollars, the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev said during a meeting dedicated to the unified action plan on “Azerbaijan's New Digital Architecture” was held under the chairmanship of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Trend reports.
“Finally, regarding the innovation ecosystem: after defining our focus, our main goal is to maximize the added value created in this sector. In this direction, in 2022, with your and Mehriban khanum’s direct participation and oversight, a legislative provision was adopted to grant a special regime to companies operating in the IT sector. As a result, to date the number of resident companies in technoparks has reached approximately 165, ten of which are foreign companies. The revenue they have generated amounts to about one billion manats. At the same time, we believe that these figures do not fully reflect our country’s potential,” he said.
The minister stated that the main indicator is the volume of exports in this sector.
“Unfortunately, at present it amounts to around $100 million. We believe that through the implementation of the measures предусмотренных планом действий, we will be able to increase this figure from 100 million to one billion dollars and beyond,” Nabiyev added.
