BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. The amount of financial support (grants and subsidies) allocated to Azerbaijan's municipalities from the state budget increased in 2024, with over 8 million manat ($4.7 million) being provided for the first time, Trend reports.
The information was reflected in the annual report of the body responsible for administrative oversight of municipal activities for 2024, which was discussed today at a meeting of the Regional Affairs Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
According to data obtained through the "Electronic Execution" information system, 11,290 administrative acts (5,585 in 2023) adopted by municipalities concerning the settlement of accounts receivable were executed by officials. Together with pending cases, the total reached 16,785 administrative acts, of which 6,669 acts were executed (7,523 in 2023).
The report noted that the increase in the amount of subsidies and grants provided in the state budget to support local budgets compared to the previous year is another indicator of the government's commitment to developing local self-governance.
Notably, under the "Law on Administrative Control of Municipal Activities," the corresponding executive authority of the Republic of Azerbaijan is responsible for administrative oversight of municipal activities.
Under a decree by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the implementation of the "Law on Administrative Control of Municipal Activities," the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan exercises the powers of the relevant executive authority, as stipulated in Article 3.1 of this law.
