ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 21. Kazakhstan and Lukoil review the progress of joint projects in the energy sector, Trend reports.
A meeting was held between the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Lukoil shareholder Vagit Alekperov. During the meeting, they discussed the implementation of joint energy projects in Kazakhstan.
President Tokayev was briefed on the company's performance and its plans for the near future. The meeting also focused on promising areas of cooperation of mutual interest.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the sustainable development of cooperation with large companies like Lukoil contributes to the modernization of the energy sector and strengthens Kazakhstan's economic potential.
Lukoil is one of Russia's largest oil companies, and the second-largest in terms of oil production in Russia. It is the second-largest company in Russia by revenue after Gazprom (according to 2020 data from Expert magazine). Lukoil has been operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan since 1995. The company is involved in several exploration and production projects on land and is also part of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Lukoil is the largest Russian investor in Kazakhstan.
