Samruk Kazyna, Lukoil discuss ongoing projects

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 21. Kazakhstan's Samruk-Kazyna and the Russian oil company Lukoil have reviewed the status of their joint current projects, Trend reports.

A meeting took place between Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Kazyna, Nurlan Zhakupov, and Lukoil's leadership, headed by the company's shareholder, Vagit Alekperov.

The parties discussed the status of their joint projects - Kalamkas-More/Khazar and the Khvalynskoye field. During the meeting, Zhakupov emphasized that the focus on strengthening cooperation between the Fund and Lukoil remains unchanged.

Lukoil is one of the largest publicly traded vertically integrated oil and gas companies in the world, accounting for about 2 percent of global oil production and approximately 1 percent of proven hydrocarbon reserves. The company operates in over 30 countries worldwide.

Lukoil has been operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan since 1995. The company is involved in several exploration and production projects on land and is also part of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). Lukoil is the largest Russian investor in Kazakhstan.

The joint-stock company Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund is a Kazakhstani investment holding established in 2008 to enhance Kazakhstan's national welfare and carry out economic modernization projects. The sole shareholder is the Government of Kazakhstan. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Olzhas Bektenov, and the Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna is Nurlan Jakupov. The fund’s assets amount to approximately $81 billion.
