BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. In January of this year, consumers in Azerbaijan opened their wallets to the tune of 230.3 million manat ($135.4 million) for alcoholic and tobacco products.
The data obtained by Trend from the country's State Statistical Committee shows that this figure grew by 4.2 million manat ($2.47 million), or 1.8 percent, from the same month last year.
Eventually, the share of turnover of drinks and tobacco products amounted to 4.7 percent.
To note, a total of 4.8 billion manat ($2.8 billion) worth of goods were sold to consumers in the retail trade network in 2024, including 2.6 billion manat ($1.5 billion) worth of food, drinks, and tobacco products and 2.2 billion manat ($1.29 billion) worth of non-food products. Compared to 2023, retail trade turnover increased by 3.7 percent in real terms, including 1.8 percent for food, drinks, and tobacco products and 6.1 percent for non-food products.
