ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 29. The Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabaev, spoke about major transport and logistics projects being implemented in the Mangistau region during an off-site meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Strong Regional Science – Strong Region," Trend reports.
According to him, initiation of the oil terminal infrastructure project is slated for this fiscal year at Kurik port, with strategic frameworks established for the prospective development of a "green hydrogen" terminal in subsequent phases.
"In the Aktau port, a container hub is being built in collaboration with a Chinese company. This will increase the port's capacity from 140,000 to 240,000 TEUs. The commercial fleet will also double; currently, there are 17 vessels, and by 2027 this number will rise to 34," noted the minister.
As part of the large-scale modernization of railway stations in the Mangistau region, three new stations - Mangistau, Shetpe, and Beineu - will be constructed. Additionally, this year specialists will begin the modernization of the Beineu-Mangistau railway section, which spans a total of 404 kilometers. A new train control system (automatic block signaling) will be installed on the Shalkar-Beineu and Mangistau-Ozen sections (a total of 651 kilometers).
