The number of labor agreements increased over 2.5 times in 2008 compared to 2007, State Labor Inspection head Nabi Shukurlu said at a press conference.
Roughly 27,781 labor agreements were concluded in 2008 compared to 10,917 in 2007.
"This is due to tougher fines on infringing labor agreements with employees," Shukurlu said.
A total of 890,235 manat in fines were written in 2008, compared to 310,178 manat in 2007.
The fine for infringing labor agreements grew from 2,000 to 3,000 manat in 2009.
In 2008, 31 illegally dismissed workers were re-appointed after the State Labor Inspection reviewed their appeals, compared to 53 people in 2007.
A total of 2,569 enterprises were controlled in 2008.
On Jan. 30, the official currency rate was 0.8067 manat to $1.
