In the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March 2018), Astara county customs of Iran's Gilan province accounted for 144,000 tons of imports and 568,000 tons of non-oil exports, head of Astara customs administration Rasul Umidi said.
He added that in terms of value, the above mentioned imports amounted to $163 million, while the non-oil exports amounted to $268 million.
He noted that the exports were supplied to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia and the main export goods were agricultural, chemical, mining and metal products, foodstuff, rubber, cement, gypsum, detergents, fabric, handicraft, carpet and moquette, clothes, bags and shoes.
Compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, non-oil exports increased by 136 percent in terms weight and 109 percent in terms of value, Umidi said.
In the reported period, 1.07 million people crossed Astara border crossing point, Umidi said, adding that the number of those who left Iran via Astara border crossing increased by 80 percent, while the number of those who entered the country through the crossing went up by 82 percent.
He added that the revenues of Iran's Astara customs administration, in the reported period, reached 626.048 billion rials (roughly $14.9 million), and therefore showed an increase of 100 percent compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year.
