The representatives of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport held the talks with a number of Singapore’s companies, Trend reports referring to the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
The agreements on the implementation of joint projects in the medium term were reached with these companies.
The representatives of the Turkmen Deniz Derya Yollary Agency (Turkmen State Service of Maritime and River Transportation) and such Singapore’s companies as Pacific International Lines, T.S. Teo, Future Intelligence Co. Ltd, MIGCO Management, Oriel Management Consulting Pte. Ltd., MTQ Corporation Ltd, Asian Resources Center Pte Ltd, NACE International Singapore Section and AQB CAPITAL attended the meetings.
The opening ceremony of the new port in Turkmenbashi was held in May 2018. The total throughput is about 17 million tons of cargo per year, excluding oil products, including 300,000 passengers, 75,000 trucks, 400,000 containers, three million tons of bulk cargo and four million tons of general cargo. Together with the previously operating port, this figure will be 25-26 million tons.
The project implemented by Turkey’s Gap Insaat company costs more than $1.5 billion.
The total area of the port is more than 150 hectares, said the message posted on the website of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport. The total length of the pier with a width of 20 meters is 3,600 meters, which allows several cargo and passenger ships to arrive, depart and to be serviced at the port at the same time.
The Turkmenbashi seaport renders all services according to the international standards: in particular, such as refueling, loading and unloading goods in open and closed storage facilities, packaging of goods, medical assistance, forwarding, fire safety, pilotage services, supervisory services, agent services, sea guides, towing and anchor services.
The cargoes may be stored without payment of customs duties up to three years. The cargoes may be stored free from 30 to 45 days. Thus, there is a possibility to sell and ship the stored goods from the port in any direction by vehicles, trains and ships.
The Turkmenbashi port is an important transport and logistics hub of the TRACECA corridor, an internationally recognized program aimed at developing economic relations, trade and transport routes in the regions of the Black Sea basin, South Caucasus and Central Asia. The port is planned to be integrated with railways and roads.
