As many as 74,000 tons of non-oil products worth $33 million were exported via Astara customs of Gilan province in northern Iran during the first month of the current Iranian year from March 20 through April 19, 2020, Director General of Astara Customs Office Rasoul Omidi said, Trend reports referring to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
According to Omidi, the exported products were agricultural, clothing and handicraft products that were mainly exported to Azerbaijan, Russia and Georgia.
Omidi added that during this period, 15,000 tons of products worth $12 million were imported through customs. The imported products included mainly chemicals, wood, equipment and electrical vehicles imported from Russia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The official said that 8,000 tons of transit products worth $56 million were delivered to the country through Iran's Astara border customs. The transited products were mainly oil products, cotton, man-made fibers, iron ingots and copper. The products were transited from Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia and Ukraine to Turkey, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
"During one month, 1,000 tons of transit products worth $6 million left the country through Iran's Astara customs. The transited products were mainly electric vehicles, construction materials, glassware, agricultural products, medical equipment and cars that were transited from different countries to Azerbaijan, Russia, Georgia and Ukraine,” he said.
Omidi said that during the month, the revenues of Astara customs office reached 203 billion rials (about $4.83 million). This income decreased by 12 percent compared to the same period last year.
