ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 8. About 1.05 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the Kazakh seaport of Kuryk from January through June, Trend reports.
According to the port, over 668,000 tons were delivered by rail, more than 384,000 by road.
Meanwhile, in order to increase the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR, or Middle Corridor), Kazakhstan continues to work to increase cargo transportation through the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk.
This year, it is planned to carry out dredging work in the port of Kuryk. This is necessary to ensure sufficient depth for ships to enter.
The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.
The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.
The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
