ASTANA, Kazakhstan, August 24. According to preliminary results announced by Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission, the Adilet party won the majority of votes in the election to the Kurultai, Trend’s special correspondent reports.

Preliminary data showed that 6,528,948 voters, or 71.17% of all voters who cast ballots, voted for the Adilet party.

Results for the other parties were as follows:

  • Auyl party — 574,621 votes (6.26%);

  • Respublica party — 509,631 votes (5.56%);

  • Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan — 478,083 votes (5.21%);

  • National Social Democratic Party — 469,058 votes (5.11%);

  • People’s Party of Kazakhstan — 285,395 votes (3.11%);

  • Baitak Green Party — 97,751 votes (1.07%).

A total of 12,623,289 citizens were included on the voter rolls. Of these, 9,351,539 participated in the vote.

Preliminary voter turnout was therefore 74.08%.

The Central Election Commission will establish the final election results in accordance with Kazakhstan’s legislation.

Kazakhstan held elections to the Kurultai on Aug. 23. The Kurultai is the country’s new unicameral parliament.
