Iran spots increase in non-oil exports from Golestan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 15. Non-oil exports of Golestan Province, located in northeastern Iran, increased 56 percent during the first 4 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Shahriar Shahriari said, Trend reports.

According to him, $134 million worth of non-oil products have been exported from Golestan Province in 4 months.

Shahriari noted that mainly pistachios, polystyrene, polyethylene, pipes, and more were exported from the province during the 4 months.

The official added that products from Golestan province are mainly exported to Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Iraq.

Furthermore, he stated that a target of $310 million was set for exporting non-oil products from Golestan province in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024). Although $328 million worth of non-oil products were exported from the province last year.

“The export of non-oil products from Golestan province worth $380 million is targeted for the current year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025). Considering the export of non-oil products from the province for 4 months, it is expected that this target will be achieved. It is planned to export non-oil products worth $500 million per year from Golestan province during the next 2 years,” he emphasized.

To note, according to the statistics of the Iran Customs Administration, the country exported non-oil products worth $17.5 billion during 4 months, which means an increase of 8 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through July 22, 2023).
