BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 2. Iran's mining industry exports reached a value of $11.1 billion, totaling 52.1 million tons of products in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through January 19, 2025), Trend reports via the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

The value of Iran's mining product exports increased by 0.08 percent, while the weight decreased by 1.07 percent compared to the same period last year (from March 21, 2023, through January 20, 2024).

During this period, Iran’s top exports included steel, aluminum, and copper, which together accounted for $8.67 billion in value and 27.7 million tons in weight.

Over the same ten months, Iran's mining industry imports amounted to 9.91 billion dollars, equaling 3.57 million tons. This represents a 71 percent increase in the value of imports and a 22 percent decrease in weight compared to the previous year’s figures, which were valued at $5.79 billion for 4.55 million tons.

Iran's steel production capacity is around 40 million tons per year. Even though predictions have been made in recent years to expand Iran's steel production capacity, no significant steps have reportedly been taken in this direction.
