Iran airs decrease in nationwide aluminum production volume

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 14. Aluminum ingot production of Iran's four aluminum companies decreased by 4.5 percent during eight months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through November 20, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through November 21, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) shows that the companies totally produced 400,425 tons of aluminum ingots in the reporting period against 419,573 tons in the same period last year.

Out of this volume, 162,459 tons accounted for Southern Aluminum Company, 115,624 tons - Iran Aluminum Company, 99,954 tons - Al-Mahdi Aluminum Company, and 22,388 tons - Iran Alumina Company.

Meanwhile, the latter company produced 159,416 tons of alumina powder (aluminum oxide) and 514,420 tons of bauxite (raw material for alumina powder), both marking five percent year-on-year growth, and 269,145 tons of aluminum hydroxide (41 percent increase).

To note, Iran's annual potential to produce aluminum ingots is about 700,000 tons.

The four aluminum companies produced a total of 635,597 tons of aluminum ingots in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024). However, last year (from March 21, 2022 through March 2023), the companies produced 632,166 tons of aluminum ingots.
