BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. A total of $2 billion was spent on commissioning facilities within mining industry projects in Iran during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors at the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) Mohammad Aghajanlou told reporters, Trend reports.
He said that in the reporting year, Within the framework of a number of projects, facilities for Mehdiabad zinc concentrate production, Kohnuj titanium production, and steel production were commissioned.
Aghajanlou noted that the commissioning of facilities opened more than 5,000 jobs last year.
The organization official added that efforts will be made to commission facilities in the current year (from March 21, 2025, through March 20, 2026).
To note, approximately 12,000 mines are operating in Iran. The country's mine reserves are over 50 billion tons, and the average annual production from local mines exceeds 400 million tons.
