ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 2. Turkmenistan's GDP grew by 6.3 percent from January through July 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov said during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting, Trend reports.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the results of work completed over the past seven months and addressed the country's socio-economic development issues.
Geldimyradov noted that this GDP growth reflects the impact of comprehensive measures implemented across various sectors.
The chair further detailed that the construction sector saw a significant increase of 9.3 percent, the transport and communication sector grew by 7.1 percent, and the industrial sector experienced a growth of 3.6 percent. Both the trade and agriculture sectors expanded by 7.8 percent, while the services sector contributed to the overall growth with a 7 percent increase.
Compared to the same period in 2023, overall economic output increased by 11.5 percent, demonstrating positive production indicators across all sectors. Retail trade volume rose by 11 percent, further highlighting the nation's economic progress.
Following the report of the deputy chair, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to adopt measures to sustain the stability of macroeconomic indicators for the national economy. He underscored the importance of maintaining high GDP growth rates, the modernization of existing production facilities, and the establishment of new ones.
