ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 2. The company Aktobecem plans to construct a cement plant in the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
Akim (head) of the region, Askhatar Shakharov, met with investors from Singapore and Kazakhstan to discuss project development details, including financing, construction timelines, and environmental standards.
"We are ready to support the implementation of the cement plant project. This enterprise will make a significant contribution to the development of the construction industry in the region by providing the local market with high-quality cement and creating new jobs. Furthermore, the implementation of this project will attract additional investments and contribute to the economic growth of our region," Shakharov noted during the meeting with investors.
During the negotiations, it was outlined that Aktobecem plans to invest $143.1 million in this production. The launch of this project will create more than 500 jobs. The regional akim also emphasized that this project is unique for the Aktobe region, as it will become the only large enterprise in the western region, with a capacity of 2 million tons of product per year. Currently, there is only one cement plant operating in Aktau with a production capacity of 800,000 tons of cement per year. The launch of a new facility will not only meet the growing demand for cement but also open up new opportunities for local construction companies. It was also noted that the construction of this plant will cover 80 percent of the cement product needs in the Aktobe region and reduce logistics costs.
Aktobecem plans to begin construction and assembly work in the spring of 2025, with the launch of the cement plant scheduled for 2026.
In August of this year, a ceremonial laying of a symbolic time capsule took place at one of the sites of the former chemical plant in Alga (Aktobe region, Kazakhstan).
